Honoring All Who Served this Veterans Day

Categories: Blog, Home

A huge thank you and Happy Veterans Day to the millions of brave men and women who have served in uniform and defended our Country, putting their lives on the line to preserve our freedom and independence.  You know better than anyone, that freedom is not free.

And another huge thank you to all of our Homes For Our Troops supporters. Your efforts are transforming the lives of those Veterans who were severely injured serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of war by restoring some of the freedom and independence they sacrificed protecting our freedoms. Always remember, you do not need to wear a uniform to serve.

Originally known as Armistice Day, Americans have celebrated Veterans Day since 1919.  It is a day to pause, and give thanks to those individuals who raised their right hand, and worked nights, weekends, and holidays, often in dangerous situations, so those of us at home could enjoy our independence. Many were severely injured serving their country, and Homes For Our Troops is dedicated to building a specially adapted custom home for each post-9/11 Veteran who was severely injured in Iraq or Afghanistan. Today we finished home #370, with 77 more home projects ongoing nationwide. We will not stop until the mission to build an adapted home for each of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coasties severely injured in Iraq or Afghanistan is accomplished.

Please take time today to find a Veteran, and thank them for their service and sacrifice.  It’s the least we can do.
