From the President and CEO: Honoring 250 Years of Freedom by Investing in Those Who Defended It

Categories: Blog, Home

As we celebrate Independence Day and mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we reflect on the enduring ideals of freedom and opportunity that have shaped our nation.

We also pay tribute to the brave men and women who have defended those ideals through their service and sacrifice. Their courage and commitment have safeguarded the values upon which our nation was built, preserving the promise of liberty for future generations.

At Homes For Our Troops, we believe that honoring that service requires more than words of gratitude. It requires action.

Supporting our Veterans is not an act of charity; it is our national duty.

Across the country, nearly 1,800 severely injured post-9/11 Veterans still need adapted homes designed to accommodate the life-changing injuries they sustained while serving our nation. Too many continue to live in environments that limit their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Our mission is clear: to provide a specially adapted custom home to every one of these Veterans.

These homes restore freedom. They create independence. They empower Veterans to pursue careers, raise families, engage in their communities, and continue contributing to the nation they fought to protect.

As we honor this historic milestone, I invite you to join us in reaffirming our commitment to the Veterans who have given so much in service to our country. Every action, whether through advocacy, volunteering, partnership, or philanthropy, helps advance our mission and brings us closer to ensuring that every severely injured post-9/11 Veteran has the home and independence they deserve.

Your support transforms lives, strengthens families, and demonstrates the very best of the American spirit. Because of you, more than 440 severely injured post-9/11 Veterans and their families across 46 states are now living in safe, accessible homes that provide the foundation for a brighter future.

On behalf of everyone at Homes For Our Troops, thank you for your generosity and your belief in our mission.

Happy Independence Day, and happy 250th birthday to our great nation.
