The National Day of Service and Remembrance is a culmination of efforts, initially launched in 2002, to encourage volunteering on 9/11 as a tribute to victims, survivors, and those who joined the service in response to the attacks. Homes For Our Troops participated in this national day of charitable service by hosting three Volunteer Days for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans on the 20th Anniversary of terrorist attacks.

The Volunteer Day is when the community is invited to help landscape the HFOT homes by laying sod and planting trees and flowers in preparation for the Veteran’s homecoming.
