SPC BRETT WOLF

Weatherford, TX

Mission Accomplished on Oct. 3, 2009

Army Specialist Brett Wolf was serving in Iraq with the 25th Infantry when he was severely injured on Sept. 11, 2007. SPC Wolf was driving the lead vehicle, a minesweeper, in South Kirkuk, Iraq, when it struck a large bomb. The vehicle flipped over and injured several of the personnel on board. The blast caused severe injuries to SPC Wolf, with both legs amputated above the knee, serious injuries to his right arm, abdomen, and face as well as other injuries.

The gift of his specially adapted custom home has mitigated the stress of a mortgage, giving him more time to focus on his goals, Brett says. Since his Key Ceremony in December 2009, he has earned his technology of welding certificate and is now working on starting his own welding and landscaping business. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer and his two sons and daughter.

Brett appreciates not only the home, but having his own backyard. He says the home has enabled him and his family to appreciate the meaning of helping others in need. “I am so grateful to be a part of the Homes For Our Troops family. I cannot thank them enough for the freedom they have given me with a mortgage-free home for my family to grow and build our lives in,” he says.
