SGT JARED LUCE

Mission Accomplished on June 1, 2007

In 2005, Marine Sergeant Jared Luce USMCR, was serving with the 6th Motor Transport, 4th FSSG out of New Haven, Conn., attached to the 1st TSB, 1st FSSG in Iraq. On Feb. 9, Sgt Luce was driving the maintenance contact vehicle in a convoy to Hit, Iraq, to recover a broken-down vehicle in the convoy when the vehicle drove over a double-stacked land mine. As a result of the blast, Jared lost both of his legs and sustained severe damage to his left hand and left eye.
