SPC BRYANT JACOBS
Herriman, UT
Mission Accomplished on Sept. 12, 2009
Bryant Jacobs served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On December 3, 2004, Army Specialist Jacobs was serving in Iraq when his HMMWV was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in severe injuries. In 2014, Bryant made the difficult decision to voluntarily amputate his right leg due to lingering injuries.
Despite the injuries he sustained, Bryant has dedicated himself to building a meaningful life centered on family, community, and giving back. Homes For Our Troops presented Bryant with his specially adapted custom home in September 2009, providing him with greater independence and accessibility.
Bryant and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters, Karsyn and Lilly. Bryant graduated from the University of Utah in 2012 with a degree in communications. Committed to paying forward the support he received, Bryant has spent years raising funds and awareness for Veteran organizations. He held a golf tournament for 15 years, raising more than $150,000 for various Veteran non-profits. He also launched an annual golf tournament benefiting Homes For Our Troops, raising nearly $80,000 over seven years in support of fellow Veterans.
Outside of his philanthropic work, Bryant enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his passions, which include golfing, hunting, diving, playing pickleball, and giving back to others whenever possible.
Bryant would like to extend his gratitude to HFOT donors and supporters for their generosity. “Honestly, words can’t describe how thankful I am for a fully accessible home. It’s little things, like taking a shower, that are easier again.”
