Army SSG Jeremy Breece and wife Roxann received their specially adapted custom home in San Marcos, Texas in 2015. “We are grateful Homes For Our Troops made our closet a safe room and gave us a generator, it gives us peace of mind during severe storms and weather,” says Roxann Breece.
Thank you for making this Giving Tuesday a truly memorable one. With your support, we raised over $600,000! Your kindness will enable us to cover the cost for safe rooms and generators in 18 of the 23 specially adapted custom homes HFOT plans to build this year. Safe rooms are crucial for injured Veterans because they provide a secure location to safeguard themselves and their families during severe weather and natural disasters. The room, which doubles as the master bedroom closet in HFOT homes, is built to FEMA standards and enables Veterans to charge their prosthetics and electric wheelchairs with the electricity from the backup generator. In addition, the backup generator enables our Veterans to continue controlling their homes’ heating & cooling systems during power outages, provides power for major appliances, and keeps their home safe and operational.
Special thanks to The Andresen Family Foundation for matching donations on Giving Tuesday dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000!
If you didn’t get a chance to donate on Giving Tuesday, you can still help us provide life-changing features to our nation’s severely injured post-9/11 Veterans by making a contribution today.Thank you for helping us Build Homes and Rebuild Lives!
