A one-of-a-kind piece of INDYCAR memorabilia is being auctioned to benefit Homes For Our Troops (HFOT)—a custom race-worn helmet created by INDYCAR driver Santino Ferrucci to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and America’s severely injured Veterans.
Ferrucci, driver for AJ Foyt Racing, designed the patriotic helmet in collaboration with renowned helmet designer BEAM Designs. The custom Arai GP-7 SRC ABP helmet was created specifically for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., and the NTT INDYCAR Series season finale in Monterey, Calif.
For Ferrucci, the helmet represents more than a special race design. Inspired by the challenges faced by severely injured Veterans, he wanted to create something meaningful that could give back. The helmet will be auctioned to support HFOT’s mission of building and donating specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans.
Adding to its significance, the helmet will be personally signed by three generations of the AJ Foyt Racing legacy: Santino Ferrucci, AJ Foyt Racing President Larry Foyt, and racing legend A.J. Foyt, the first four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500.
The winning bidder will own a unique piece of INDYCAR history while helping HFOT provide severely injured post-9/11 Veterans with the freedom and independence that come from living in a specially adapted, mortgage-free home.
