SGT RYAN NEWELL

Marion County, KS

Mission Accomplished on June 26, 2010

In January 2008, Army Sergeant Ryan Newell was deployed to Afghanistan when he lost both legs in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion. After being stabilized and with flight conditions improved, SGT Newell was airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany. He was later airlifted to Walter Reed, where he spent nearly a year undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

SGT Newell returned to Kansas to continue his therapies closer to home. He enjoys hunting, boating, golfing and photography. He would like to volunteer for organizations that assist injured Veterans.

Homes For Our Troops presented SGT Newell with his specially adapted custom home on June 26, 2010.
