Mission Accomplished on June 26, 2010

Army Sergeant Ryan Newell was deployed to Afghanistan when he was left a double amputee after an IED explosion blew him out of his vehicle’s gunner’s turret in January 2008. After being stabilized and with flight conditions improved, SGT Newell was airlifted to Landstuhl, Germany. He was later airlifted to Walter Reed, where he spent nearly a year undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

SGT Newell returned to Kansas to continue his therapies closer to home. He enjoys hunting, boating, golfing and photography. SGT Newell would like to volunteer for organizations that assist wounded veterans.

Homes For Our Troops awarded SGT Newell with his specially adapted home on June 26, 2010.
