Cpl Michael McGann

North Liberty, IN

Inspired to serve his country after 9/11, Michael McGann enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2007.

Corporal McGann served as a communications specialist with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38, deploying to Iraq in June, 2008. While conducting ground and helicopter operations there, he sustained a severe injury to his back. Not wanting to let his unit down, he did not seek medical treatment until his return stateside, where he underwent surgery.

In the years that followed, Michael underwent multiple additional surgeries and ultimately found relief with a spinal cord stimulator implant to address permanent nerve damage and foot drop.

Michael and his wife, Kristen, are parents to Kyra, Addyson, Adyn, Mason, and Willow. Michael enjoys cooking for his family and is looking forward to an adapted kitchen that will allow him to prepare meals safely and contribute to the household in a meaningful way.

Originally from Indiana, Michael is choosing to remain in his home state.
