SGT JORDAN MAYNARD

Cottonwood, AZ

Mission Accomplished on Feb. 1, 2014

On March 23, 2011, during his second deployment, Marine Sergeant Jordan Maynard was serving as a squad leader with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines when he was severely injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast, resulting in bilateral above-the-knee amputations of his legs, a shattered elbow, numerous internal injuries, and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

He was evacuated to a field hospital in Deleram, Afghanistan, and subsequently transported to Landstuhl, Germany. Stateside, he was treated at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, where he remained for a month before transferring to Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

A recipient of a specially adapted custom HFOT home in 2014, Jordan and his wife, Kelley, are parents to Jay, Airyanna, and Anthony. Jordan is a stay-at-home dad and enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family. Kelley works as a registered nurse at the local hospital.

Jordan would like to thank HFOT donors and supporters for allowing him to be an involved and active parent. “I appreciate our HFOT home because it gives me and my family the time and the freedom to do as we please,” he says.
