CPL Jeramie Green
Prairieville, LA
Jeramie Green was inspired to serve in the military in honor of his best friend, a servicemember who lost his life in the line of duty in Iraq. In 2010, he enlisted in the Army.
On February 13, 2013, Corporal Green was serving as an Allied Trade Specialist (fabrication and repair of equipment parts) with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Afghanistan when he was severely injured while trying to stop a rolling unmanned vehicle. CPL Green was caught in the door of the vehicle and dragged off a cliff, with the vehicle further injuring him by landing on him upon impact. The accident resulted in the amputation of his right leg above the knee, loss of his hamstring and calf on his left leg, and bilateral hearing loss.
He was airlifted to Bagram Air Base for immediate treatment before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany, for additional surgery. Stateside, he was sent to Walter Reed Medical Center, where he underwent more than 80 surgeries and extensive rehabilitation.
Jeramie and his wife, Lindsey, are parents to Khaleesi and Khaleeah. Jeramie enjoys hunting, target shooting, and fishing. He is also an avid cook with extensive experience in the food truck industry.
A specially adapted custom HFOT home will allow Jeramie to access every room safely and empower him to invest in his future. “A donated home would allow me to be more financially stable. I have always had a passion for cooking, and I hope to open a restaurant in the future.”
Originally from Louisiana, Jeramie is choosing to remain in his home state.
Jeramie would like to extend his gratitude to HFOT donors and supporters. “You are all doing amazing things for people who served our country, and it is remarkable. You are changing people’s lives and making their quality of life better.”
