SGT Tyler Hall

Wasilla, AK

Joshua Hall was driven by a sense of duty to join the Army after 9/11. He enlisted shortly after high school, deploying to Afghanistan in 2010 and 2012.

On July 31, 2012, Staff Sergeant Hall, a Fire Team Leader with 1-508 PIR, was conducting damage assessment with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED). He lost his left leg above the knee, and sustained severe damage to his right leg, a broken pelvis and a fractured neck and back.

He was medically evacuated to Kandahar Airfield before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany. Stateside, he underwent surgery and rehabilitation at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Josh and his wife, Sarah, were married in 2022. A fitness enthusiast, Josh is also the owner of Dominion K9, a dog training company. A specially adapted custom HFOT home has allowed Josh to focus on providing for his son, Liam, and invest in his future. “It is a tremendous source of pride to own something as significant as a house that allows me to focus on my career and rehabilitation completely,” he says.

Originally from Tennessee, Josh chose to remain in his home state to be close to family.

Josh is grateful to HFOT donors and supporters for making his daily life easier. “It warms my heart to know there are still people that truly care about our servicemen and women.”
