Harlem, GA

Mission Accomplished on Aug. 7, 2009

SGT Darryl Wallace, an Infantryman, deployed with the 508th Infantry, 4th Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division in 2007, operating out of Forward Operating Base Salerno in Afghanistan in 2007.

During his deployment on June 9, 2007, SGT Wallace was returning from a firefight when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). As a result of the blast, SGT Wallace lost both of his legs, broke his left arm, and sustained a variety of stomach injuries. The three other men riding with SGT Wallace were able to escape with minor injuries.

Homes For Our Troops was proud to turn over the keys to this house to Darryl and his family on Aug. 7, 2009. Thank you to everyone who donated supplies, labor, and money to this project.

In the years since receiving his home, Darryl has focused on being a full-time father to his son Chase. He also enjoys hunting and fishing.
