Sergeant Daniel Cowart

Georgetown, TX

On May 13, 2007, Sergeant Cowart was serving as a Team Leader with 1st Platoon, Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division in Iraq when he was severely injured by a suicide bomber, resulting in the above-the-knee amputation of his left leg, severe damage to his right leg and back, bilateral hearing loss, and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

He was airlifted to Balad for immediate treatment before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany. Stateside, he underwent additional surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Daniel and his wife, Sarah, are proud parents of twins, August and Alyssa. They enjoy spending time as a family, traveling, and attending live music performances.

Originally from Texas, Daniel is choosing to remain in his home state.
