CPL Brandon Walden

Continuing his family’s legacy of military service, Brandon Walden enlisted in the Army in 2010.
On July 3, 2012, Corporal Walden was serving as an Infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Afghanistan when he was shot multiple times during an insider attack. He sustained a gunshot wound to his chin, three gunshot wounds to his right leg, including a tracer round that exploded inside his body, passing through his intestines and into his left hip, causing severe internal injuries.
He received life-saving treatment aboard the medical evacuation helicopter before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany, for additional treatment. Stateside, he underwent a hip replacement, more than 30 surgeries, and nearly four years of physical therapy at Brooke Army Medical Center.
Brandon enjoys biking, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Originally from California, Brandon is choosing to build his home in Texas to be close to family and friends.
