CPT Mark Little

Weatherford, TX

In 2002, driven by a desire to serve others, Mark Little enlisted in the Army National Guard while attending college and participating in ROTC.

On September 7, 2007, then Lieutenant Little was serving as a platoon leader with the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in Baghdad, Iraq, when an explosively formed penetrator (EFP) struck his vehicle, resulting in the traumatic below-the-knee amputation of his legs, burns on his upper body, and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

He was airlifted to the Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad for immediate treatment before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany. Stateside, he underwent multiple surgeries and extensive physical rehabilitation at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Mark and his wife, Alicia, are active with their local church and community. They enjoy volunteering for Veteran-focused organizations and share a passion for serving others.

Although Mark enjoys an active lifestyle, his current multilevel home poses significant challenges with narrow doorways and stairs, making daily tasks stressful and physically tiring. With the freedom and independence that a specially adapted custom home HFOT home will provide, he will have more time in the day to enjoy quality time with his family.

Originally from Virginia, Mark is choosing to build his home in Texas for the Veteran community and to be close to friends.

Mark would like HFOT’s donors and supporters to know the impact of their support. “It is because of you, the amazing patriots who care enough about our Veterans to make this possible, that families have the opportunity to come home to safety and tranquility every day instead of continuing to battle with daily living.”
