About Caitlyn
Caitlyn joined HFOT in 2018 and continues to find it a rewarding and extraordinary experience to help countless Veterans and their families receive the ultimate gift of a safe and secure, barrier-free home. She enjoys building relationships with both new and existing donors, whose generosity has a profound impact and helps advance HFOT’s mission. Outside of work, Caitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband and 25-pound, angsty pup, Hunter.
Favorite Home Adaptation
Our donors’ incredible generosity enables us to provide homes with over 40 life-changing adaptations, restoring some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed. A whole-house generator provides reliable power during severe weather and prolonged outages, ensuring Veterans can charge critical equipment such as prosthetics and power wheelchairs. In many cases, these generators also transform their homes into a refuge for neighbors during severe weather emergencies.

Favorite Home Adaptation
The accessible walkway surrounding the entire home provides seamless wheelchair access between indoor and outdoor spaces. By eliminating barriers, it allows Veterans to fully participate in everyday activities. I love this adaptation because it promotes independence and inclusion, ensuring that outdoor spaces can be enjoyed as easily as indoor ones. The walkway makes daily life more accessible, connected, and engaging for Veterans and their families.

Favorite Home Adaptation
The thoughtful design of an HFOT home gives Veterans and their families the opportunity to begin healing and rebuilding their lives. Every adaptation works together to provide greater independence, comfort, and peace of mind, making it possible to move forward with confidence. It is not just one feature that makes a difference—it’s how every adaptation creates a foundation for a brighter future for our Veterans and their families.

Favorite Home Adaptation
The kitchen adaptations in the HFOT home are especially inspiring to me. More than 20% of home adaptations are found in the kitchen—the heart of the home. For many of our Veterans, preparing a meal can present daily challenges. Thoughtfully designed features such as
roll-under cooktops and sinks, pull-down shelving, accessible countertops, and touchless faucets restore independence and make it possible for Veterans to cook, gather with loved ones, and create lasting memories.
