SGT Marcus Dandrea

Mission Accomplished on July 9, 2016

Marine Sergeant Marcus Dandrea was on his second deployment when he lost both of his legs in an IED blast in Sangin, Afghanistan on Feb. 24, 2011.

A member of the 2nd Radio Battalion, Sgt Dandrea stepped on an IED resulting in injuries so severe, both of his legs required amputations above the knee. Sgt Dandrea was prepared for transport and medically evacuated from a mountain top by helicopter. First treated at Camp Bastion/Leatherneck in Helmand Province, Kandahar, Afghanistan, Sgt Dandrea was airlifted to England and next to Landstuhl, Germany before arriving at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

Marcus enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, gardening, biking, racing, aviation, and Playstation. He also plays bass in the Musicorps Wounded Warrior Band.

Marcus says he is grateful to Homes For Our Troops to providing him a mortgage-free, specially adapted home. “This means so much to me and my family.
