Close your eyes and imagine your daily morning routine – waking up, making coffee, showering, getting dressed, and eating breakfast in the home you live in right now. Then, imagine doing the same thing, but in a wheelchair. Would you be able to get from your bedroom to your kitchen easily? How about reaching the countertops? Could your bathroom accommodate a wheelchair?
Homes For Our Troops Veteran home recipient Army Sergeant Richard “Tony” Doyle, who received his home in 2017, addresses this scenario while speaking to supporters at a Community Kickoff event. In it, he paints a picture of the challenges severely injured Veterans like himself faced in traditional housing before receiving their specially adapted custom HFOT homes.
This holiday season we want you to know it is only because of YOU that Veterans like Tony are living independently and rebuilding their lives within their own homes. Hear Tony’s full speech by clicking the link below.
