Country music legend Dwight Yoakam auctioning guitar to support Homes For Our Troops

Country music singer-songwriter Dwight Yoakam is auctioning off an autographed guitar to support Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), a national nonprofit that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.

When the Country Superstar and 21-time nominated, multiple GRAMMY award winner learned about HFOT’s mission, he felt deeply about the cause and wanted to support the organization. “These brave men and women have sacrificed so much for our great Nation. Supporting HFOT’s mission seemed like the perfect way to honor their service,” says Yoakam.

Bidding for Yoakam’s Epiphone “Elitist” ’65 Casino Guitar, which is an early auction item for HFOT’s 5th Annual Celebrity Auction in November, opened through eBay for Charity at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST on Sept. 5 and closes at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST on Sept. 12 at https://www.ebay.com/itm/274929869993. The winning bidder will have triple the impact, thanks to The Andresen Family Foundation, which will match two dollars for every dollar on the final bid.

“As Americans, we have an obligation to help injured Veterans who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our country,” says HFOT Board Member Matthew Andresen. “I feel HFOT’s mission to build adapted homes for these brave men and women is the least we can do for all they have sacrificed. This is why I joined the board of directors and have committed to tripling the winning bid of the guitar.”

“Homes For Our Troops is grateful for Dwight Yoakam’s generosity and passion for supporting severely injured post-9/11 Veterans. Auctioning off his guitar not only raises funds but brings awareness to our critical mission of Building Homes and Rebuilding Lives,” says Brigadier General Tom Landwermeyer, USA (Ret), HFOT President/CEO.

The Homes For Our Troops Annual Celebrity Auction enables patriotic Americans to bid on in-person and Zoom experiences, luxury items, and autographed memorabilia from various television and movie stars, musicians, and sports figures to help support the nonprofit’s mission. CNN’s Jake Tapper, a longtime HFOT supporter and mission ambassador, along with George Clooney, Mindy Kaling, Don Cheadle, and HFOT Mission Ambassador Wynonna Judd, have enlisted the help of friends, movie stars, and entertainment icons, to arrange an extensive assortment of auction items to benefit Homes For Our Troops this Veterans Day.
