SSG Lee Tom Jones

Lumberton, NC

Mission Accomplished on Feb. 18, 2008

On Oct. 3, 2005, Army Staff Sergeant Lee Tom Jones was on patrol with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, when the vehicle he was riding in hit an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast caused the vehicle to flip over and catch fire. As a result of the explosion, Lee sustained severe burns to over 45 percent of his body, three strokes, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and lost feeling in his feet, which makes it difficult for him to walk. He is only able to go short distances with a walking belt and assistance.

Homes For Our Troops built the Jones family a specially adapted custom home to help Lee regain some independence and enable him to rebuild his life.
