SSGT JOHN JONES

Fort Collins, CO

Mission Accomplished on July 18, 2009

On Jan. 3, 2005, Marine Staff Sergeant John P. Jones was serving in Iraq with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines when he was severely injured. John was in the seventh vehicle of a 35-vehicle convoy when it hit a double-stacked anti-tank mine. The mine that exploded under his HMMWV launched him 25 feet through the top of the vehicle.

John was previously living in a rented house with his family. With the help of volunteers, Homes For Our Troops built them a home that accommodates his needs and enables him and his family to concentrate on recovery and their future.

Homes For Our Troops was proud to turn over the keys to this house to the Jones Family on July 18, 2009. Thank you to everyone who donated supplies, labor, and money to this project. Without people like you, none of this would’ve been possible.
