MAJOR GENERAL (USA, RETIRED) TIMOTHY P. MCHALE –PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR
Major General USA, Ret. Timothy P. McHale was born and raised in Minnesota. In May 1977 he completed his undergraduate studies at St. John’s University Collegeville, Minnesota as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps.During his 35 years of service, he has commanded both aviation and logistics units of every echelon from platoon to theater support command, with duty in Germany, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the United States.
Major General McHale held several key staff positions on the Department of the Army Staff, The Joint Staff, US Forces Korea, Multi-National Forces-Iraq, and US Forces Afghanistan. He holds Master’s Degrees in Management from Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island, and National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He is a former National Security Fellow, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Major General McHale has been married to his wife Janice for over 28 years and they have two sons, Casey who is attending Valley Forge Military College in Wayne, Pennsylvania and Riley who is attending Saint Louis Catholic School in Alexandria, Virginia. He is currently the President of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), a national non-profit organization assisting severely injured Veterans who spend all or part of their daily lives confined to a wheelchair. HFOT provides these veterans and their family at no cost, a high quality barrier free home by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and then coordinates the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
Tom Benoit, Chief Financial Officer
Tom Benoit became active in the organization in 2004 as its volunteer accountant and as a Board Member from 2004 through 2006. In April 2006 he joined the organization as Chief Financial Officer. Tom has a degree in accounting from UMass Dartmouth and, prior to working for HFOT, he worked in public accounting with KPMG in Boston and then in financial positions at a home healthcare equipment company and a waste-to-energy facility.
Working with HFOT’s executive team to manage the organization’s finances, HFOT has been consistently rated as a top charity by both Charity Navigator and Charity Watch. Tom is also a member of Team Homes for Our Troops and has run several marathons since 2009 to raise funds for HFOT.
Chris Rodelle, Chief Operation Officer
Christopher Rodelle joined the Homes for Our Troops mission in 2008 as Director of Project Operations. Since that time, Christopher has become an integral part of the Homes for Our Troops Executive Management team, resulting in his promotion to Chief Operating Officer in April, 2011.
As a leading contributor to the overall success and growth of the Homes for Our Troops organization, Christopher is instrumental in strategic planning and development of our program’s operations, products and services. Christopher’s commitment to the veterans we serve is realized across the organization, complemented by his increasing our program’s production capabilities and positioning the mission as a leading provider of specially adapted homes.
Christopher holds a BS in Accounting from UMass Dartmouth and is trained in Lean Six Sigma. Christopher has over 15 years of experience in the financial asset management industry, serving for over 8 years as the Head of North American Performance Measurement at Baring Asset Management. Throughout his career, Christopher has lead business initiatives for financial institutions, trusts and privately owned companies.
His father’s service aboard the USS Damato as a naval officer has left a lasting impression and a deep respect for our service men and women who have sacrificed to preserve our freedoms.
