SFC Gordon Ewell

Eagle Mountain, UT

Mission Accomplished on May 30, 2008

Sergeant First Class Gordon Ewell proudly served in the military for 21 years. While Gordon was in Iraq he participated in 59 combat missions. During these missions, his vehicle was hit by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on six separate occasions. Gordon also co-authored the handbook on Route Clearance, which is still used today. Gordon, a father of six, returned home in December of 2007 as a result of head trauma.

One of the explosions that he endured was so powerful that it blew his impacted wisdom teeth out the side of his jaw. In addition to the loss of cartilage in his jaw, he also has broken vertebrae in his neck, a permanent loss of hearing, loss of peripheral vision, and loss of balance.

Homes For Our Troops is honored to have worked with Alta Vista Homes to build the Ewell family a specially adapted custom home. Gordon received his home in Eagle Mountain, Utah, on May 30, 2008. Thank you to all who supported this project.
